Snow Leopard Accommodations

Zamgyen Homestay in Kibber

This was our home for 5 days. The Ritz-Carlton it is not, although it did provide us with the basic amenities we needed to stay warm, eat good food, and get a good night’s sleep.

Our home was the Kibber Homestay

Leave your worries and shoes at the door sign

As is typical of India they prefer no shoes in the living areas so as not to soil the mats we sit on

Wood burning stove in the bedroom

This traditional Spitian heater known as a tandoor is how Dr. P heated his room

Boiling water on stove

Hot water was heated for humidity and bathing

Food

Noodle and rice dinner

Our cook was accommodating as to our dietary needs

Half eaten pizza

They even made us pizza one night (without the sauce on night when they ran out)

Peanut butter jar and toast

For breakfast we usually had eggs and this old standby

Container of almond milk

They even had almond milk, a pleasant surprise

Popcorn Presentation

Dr. P gave the guides and staff a presentation on wildlife photography and some of his travels around the world.

When Dr. P asked where is the popcorn before the presentation he got a pleasant surprise at the start

It is highly unlikely that any of them have ever seen some of the things in the slide show like polar bears and big cats and orangutans and gorillas

Guides watching Dr. P's presentation

They were an attentive audience, even with the language barrier

The guides watching Dr. P's slide show

Some of the guides could not make it the first time Dr. P did the slide show, so they came the next day

Next post is on photographic conditions.
