At the beginning and end of the trip we went through Churchill, Manitoba. It is quite an interesting place, and is visited by tourists from around the world hoping to get a good look at polar bears from a tundra buggy. Being shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of flunky tourists in a buggy is not Dr. P’s idea of a good time, so he passed on this, thank you.
Here are some photos of around this wilderness town after we left Camp Giellini and were on the way back home.
Churchill Manitoba- The Polar Bear Capitol of the World

Churchill’s claim to fame is polar bears, although there is plenty of other wildlife viewing as can be seen from this sign in town

Another important wildlife visitor to Churchill are the Beluga Whales that appear in the summer

Dr. P and his group took a tour of Churchill on their way home

The polar bears that spend too much time in town endangering the tourists are trapped for their safety

They are put into the polar bear jail until they can be safely released

Here is one of those bears being released outside of town

We are not done showing polar bear photos. The next ones are from Svalbard, Norway, and show them in a whole different light. Dr. P has been to Svalbard 3x, and you can learn about these trips from these links:
